How broad can the scope of a graphic designer’s activities become? Designer Seogwon Hwang has showcased brilliant design outcomes across various fields, starting from print materials to exhibition identity and corporate branding. As we look into the expanding domains that Seogwon Hwang has traversed through books, exhibitions, fashion, beauty, and packaging design, we are compelled to reconsider the significance of gauging a designer’s identity based on their specialized fields or activity areas. In the OS Seminar of May 2024, we aim to explore the continuously expanding design world of Seogwon Hwang.

As a designer, Seogwon Hwang (@seogwonh) has been involved in publication and cultural exhibition identity design, as well as branding projects, with a particular interest in typographic approaches and print-based work. After working at a design studio and publishing house called workroom, she launched the beauty brand TENUI at the fashion brand thisisneverthat and worked as a graphic designer for Khakis. The book designed by Seogwon Hwang, thisisneverthat® Archives: 2010-2020, was selected as one of the ten most beautiful books in Korea in 2020.
