'Your Little Cave' is a workshop where participants will create paperweights using printmaking techniques with artist Yujin Lee, the author of ≪Sequel World 1≫, recently added to OS Library.

When we ask what the earliest form of art is, cave paintings naturally come to mind. While the approximate age of these cave paintings has been determined, we cannot truly uncover their meaning or purpose. Whether the paintings depict the day’s hunt or strange creatures from dreams, we can still vividly sense the artist's moment of determination, standing in front of the wall, feeling an urgent need to create.

Drypoint is a printmaking technique in which a sharp steel needle is used to engrave an image onto a plate. In this workshop, you will learn how to carve an image into a plate using the drypoint method and create a small paperweight by etching a drawing based on text onto a piece of transparent acrylic. Feel free to bring a favorite piece of text, envision an image from it, or choose one of the poems prepared by the artist to develop your drawing. Let’s carve the hum of sensations that echo within us onto the walls of our little caves.

Yujin Lee(@o_my_jinji) explores the meaning and potential of the act of recording, a practice that has continued since the Paleolithic era, across genres such as painting, printmaking, and graphic design. She refers to her drawing process as "carving cave paintings" and continues to create walls of the present, positioning herself as a recorder within the long timeline of history.
