『가나다라』는 한글꼴연구회가 주목하는 주제를 연구하여 발행하는 비정기 출판물이다. 한글을 목적으로 삼아 그들의 시각으로 대상을 바라보고, 새로운 관점과 태도를 제시한다. 2006년 1호를 시작으로, 한글꼴연구회 30주년을 맞아 2022년 7호를 출판한다.
『가나다라 7: 종이 밖으로』는 종이를 출발점으로 계속해서 변화하는 매체와 기술 환경에 대응하는 한글의 과거, 현재, 미래를 탐구한다. 글자의 형태적 적응, 창작과 사용 환경, 매체 확장에 대한 연구는 한글 타이포그래피가 변화하는 환경에 대응하는 모습을 보여준다.
AR과 글자도구를 이용한 두 가지 워크숍은 지면을 벗어난 글자를 실험하고, 지난 30년 간의 자료는 새로운 모험을 가능하게 한 선배들의 발자취를 보여준다. 이 과정에서 종이는 우리의 담론이 놓이는 무한한 가능성의 공간으로 다시 설정되며, 앞으로 다양한 매체를 오갈 한글꼴연구회의 출발점이 된다.
GaNaDaRa is an occasional publication by hangulggol, exploring topics of interest through their perspective on Hangeul. With Hangeul at its core, the publication offers fresh insights and perspectives. Launched in 2006, the series published its seventh issue in 2022, celebrating the hangulggol’s 30th anniversary.
GaNaDaRa 7: Beyond Paper explores the past, present, and future of Hangeul in response to evolving media and technology environments, beginning with paper as its starting point. This issue delves into Hangeul typography’s adaptability in form, the environments for its creation and use, and media expansion, illustrating how Hangeul typography meets the demands of a shifting landscape. Two workshops featuring AR and letter-making tools experiment with extending text beyond the page, while 30 years of archival materials honor the pioneering spirit that paved the way for new explorations. Through this journey, paper is redefined as an infinite space for discourse, setting the stage for the hangulggol’s future ventures across diverse media.
