A graphic designer who majored in business administration. A designer who has worked with global corporations and small studios. A designer who grew up embodying the differences between the East and the West. How does the unique life trajectory of designer Min Hee Lee reflect his attitude towards design? Min Hee Lee is a Korean-American who studied business administration at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, one of the Ivy League schools, and graphic design at Yale University. Based in New York, he has collaborated with Arper, Bloomingdale’s, MIT Press, UNIQLO, and Yale School of Architecture, and is currently an art director at Studio MINHEELEE while teaching typography at RISD. In the OS Seminar of August 2024, we will hear stories about designer Min Hee Lee’s life and his experiences in the New York design scene.

Min Hee Lee is a graphic designer and art director from New York. She operates Studio MINHEELEE (@studiominheelee) and continues to create design work that produces original stories through collaborations with writers, photographers, illustrators, and artists. She has worked at New York-based Common Name, Wax Studios, and UNIQLO Global Lab, and began her career as a strategic planner at the advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather. She studied graphic design (MFA) at Yale University and economics (BSE) at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently teaching typography at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and has lectured at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) and the University of Pennsylvania.
