『죽고싶은거리』는 홍익대학교에 재학 중인 글쓴이가 제안한 새로운 개념의 공간으로, 홍대 일대에서 일상과 비일상이 교차하는 지점을 가리킨다. 이 공간에서는 홍대생, 마포구 주민, 회사원 등의 일상적인 삶과 관광객들의 비일상적인 경험이 서로 맞물린다.
『죽고싶은거리』는 이러한 공간의 충돌도식을 독서 방식에 적용한다. ‘일상적 내용과 일관된 흐름’ 사이에 ‘비일상적 내용과 흐름과 관련 없는 내용’이 끼어들며, 일상적 페이지를 비일상적 페이지가 침범해 일상적인 흐름을 방해한다.
The Street We Want to Die introduces the author’s new spatial concept, a student at Hongik University. This space marks the intersection of everyday life and the extraordinary in the Hongdae area, where the daily routines of Hongik University students, Mapo residents, and office workers meet the unusual experiences of tourists.
The book applies this spatial collision to the reading experience. Sections that follow a “routine narrative flow” are interrupted by pages with “unrelated, extraordinary content,” disrupting the normal flow as these unexpected pages intrude upon the narrative’s familiar progression.
