LIFETHINGS IRREGULAR는 삶것이 펴내는 비정기 간행물입니다. 각 호는 제목처럼 주제도, 편집 방식도, 발행 간격도 불규칙합니다. A5 고리 중철 책자라는 형태만이 일관된 약속입니다. 독자는 바인더나 고리로 여러 호를 엮어 자유롭게 조합하고 재배열하며 저마다의 일반해를 도출해 낼 수 있습니다.
창간호 『LIFETHINGS IRREGULAR Vol.0 : 말(로)하는 건축가』는 삶것이 올해 참가한 ‘동강 더 웰타운 커뮤니티센터 및 체육센터 건축설계공모’ 프로젝트를 다룹니다. 이 프로젝트에서 건축가들은 마우스를 내려놓고 AI를 활용해 오로지 언어로만 설계 의도를 구현하는 실험을 했습니다. 이를 통해 만들어낸 결과물을 공유하는 자리로 지난 8월 세미나 ‘말(로)하는 건축가’를 열었습니다. 이 책자는 이 실험과 세미나로부터 나온 ‘말’들을 엮은 기록으로, 세 개의 장으로 구성됩니다. 글로 붙잡아 둔 다양한 말들이 독자에게 잠시 멈춰 서서 변화의 순간을 들여다보고, AI와 건축 사이의 새로운 관계를 상상할 수 있는 여유를 가져다 주기를 바랍니다.
LIFETHINGS IRREGULAR is an irregularly published periodical from Lifethings. True to its name, each issue varies in theme, editorial approach, and release interval. The only consistent promise is its form: an A5 ring-stapled booklet. Readers can bind multiple issues together with a binder or rings, freely combining and rearranging them to arrive at their own general solution. The inaugural issue, LIFETHINGS IRREGULAR Vol.0: The Architect Who Speaks (in Words), focuses on a project Lifethings entered this year—the architectural design competition for the Donggang The Welltown Community Center and Sports Center. In this project, the architects set down their mice and conducted an experiment in which they used AI to realize their design intentions through language alone. To share the outcomes of this experiment, a seminar titled “The Architect Who Speaks (in Words)” was held last August. This booklet records the “words” that emerged from both the experiment and the seminar, organized into three chapters. We hope these collected words invite readers to pause, reflect on a moment of change, and imagine a new relationship between AI and architecture.
