Web of P

Web of P is an art book documenting the 2022 solo exhibition of contemporary artist Daseul Song, whose practice has explored the media environment of our time, image data, and the bodily sensations mediated through them. Song reinterprets Penelope from Greek mythology as the ID of a contemporary image producer and consumer—one who perpetually repeats acts of creation and destruction within an enduring present. The materiality of image data generated by a body that moves between the real and the virtual, along with the sensations that drive it, is rendered through the language of “abstract moving image.” Through the sensations of a body traversing mediated realities and narratives emerging from digital glitches, the work explores the possibility of a fluid, polyphonic identity.

The spatial themes of the exhibition—”day” and “night”—are liberated from linear temporality within the book, rewoven through cycles of crossing and repetition. Images that seep in like the flow of nature leave behind traces of collision and disjunction; as readers turn each page, they are sensorially immersed in that current, as if gazing at a world beyond a window. Essays by Song Yunji, Lee Sangyeop, Ha Sanghyeon, and Hwang Jaemin extend the exhibition’s concepts into aesthetic inquiry, opening the possibility of a multi-layered reading where sensation and interpretation converge. Composed so that text and image reflect and permeate one another, Web of P proposes a way of moving beyond homogenized narrative structures—toward building new sensations, new relationships, and the terrain of one’s own inner world.
