Saul Kim (@saul_kim_) explores the relationship between form and concept, developing ideas through repetition, variation, and experimentation. In April 2026, at the CC Seminar, we spoke with Saul Kim about his work and the architectural thinking that shapes it.
소개
Saul Kim (@saul_kim_) 은 건축을 기반으로 활동하는 디자이너이자 연구자이다. 싱가포르에서 건축을 시작해 SCI-Arc에서 건축학 학사, Harvard GSD에서 건축학 석사 학위를 취득했다. 2020년부터 Architecture Anomaly 연구 시리즈를 통해 익숙한 건축 요소를 비관습적으로 재구성하며, 건축의 본질과 조립 방식에 대한 질문을 지속해 오고 있다. 그의 작업은 건축을 출발점으로 전시, 무대, 가구, 제품 등 다양한 디자인 분야로 확장되며, 건축적 사고가 서로 다른 스케일과 매체로 번역되는 과정에 집중한다. 국제 출판과 전시를 통해 작품을 소개해 왔으며, 현재 Saul Kim Studio를 통해 한국, 미국, 인도네시아, 우크라이나 등에서 프로젝트를 진행 중이다. 2023년부터 한국에서 교육 활동을 시작해 홍익대학교, 계원예술대학교, 한양대학교 ERICA에서 겸임교수로 활동해 왔다.
Introduction
Saul Kim (@saul_kim_) is a designer and researcher whose practice is rooted in architecture. Through his ongoing Architecture Anomaly series, he explores the essence of architecture by reconfiguring familiar elements in unconventional ways. His practice extends into exhibitions, furniture, products, and spatial projects, translating architectural thinking across different scales and media. He is currently active through Saul Kim Studio and also teaches at several universities in Korea.
