CC Workshop 01. 당신의 작은 동굴

Your Little Cave is a workshop led by Yujin Lee, author of the book Subsequent World 1, where participants create paperweights using printmaking techniques. When asked what the earliest form of art was, many naturally think of cave paintings. While the approximate dates of many discovered cave paintings can be traced, their meanings and purposes remain unknown. We cannot know whether they depicted the animals people hunted that day or strange creatures that appeared in their dreams. Yet we can clearly sense the impulse of someone standing before a wall, deciding that they had to draw what they saw and felt at that very moment. In this workshop, participants learned how to engrave images onto a plate using the drypoint technique and created small paperweights by carving text-inspired drawings onto pieces of transparent acrylic. Each participant brought a piece of writing they loved and transformed the images it evoked into drawings, or selected from a collection of poems prepared by the artist as a starting point for their work.
