김현진 디자이너의 1인 스튜디오 POT(@pot.works)이 그린 글자를 들여다보면 ‘이상하지만 아름다운’ 매력이란 무엇인지 자연스레 알게 됩니다. ‘Pretty Odd Type’을 줄인 POT이라는 이름 자체가 이미 김현진 디자이너의 지향점이 어디인지 충분히 드러내고 있기도 하죠. 김현진 디자이너는 이상함과 아름다운 그 언저리에 있을 자신만의 시각 언어를 찾아, POT을 통해 텍스트와 이미지, 글자와 그림 사이를 유영하며 끊임없이 나아가고 있습니다. 2024년 10월, CC 세미나에서는 글자를 그리며 자신만의 시각적 서사를 써 온 김현진 디자이너의 이야기를 들어봅니다.
The work of Hyunjin Kim’s studio POT (@pot.works) reveals the charm of things that are both strange and beautiful. The studio’s name—short for Pretty Odd Type—captures the spirit of her practice. Through POT, Kim continues to develop a visual language of her own, moving freely between text and image, letters and illustration. In October 2024, at the CC Seminar, she shared her thoughts on drawing letterforms and shaping a personal visual narrative.
소개
김현진은 팟(@pot.works)이라는 이름의 1인 스튜디오를 운영 중인 디자이너입니다. ‘이상하거나 아름다운’ 글자를 그리는 것을 즐깁니다. 글꼴 작업 외에도 다양한 분야의 클라이언트와 함께 그래픽, 편집 디자인, 일러스트레이션 등의 일을 진행하고 있습니다.
Introduction
Hyunjin Kim is a designer who runs the one-person studio POT (@pot.works). She enjoys creating letterforms that are strange or beautiful. In addition to type design, she works with clients across a variety of fields on graphic design, editorial design, and illustration projects.
