『Screen Spectres』는 가속되고 반복되는 이미지의 생산과 소멸에 대한 책이다. 책의 저자 박도현은 골든 레코드에 수록된 이미지를 소멸이 지연된 이미지의 대표로 삼고, 그것의 소멸을 지연시켜 유령으로 만드는 과정을 책으로 담았다. 이미지를 스크롤 하는 과정을 웹캠으로 촬영하고, 이를 프레임 단위로 쪼개어 100페이지에 인쇄했다. 가로로 스크롤 하는 듯한 읽기 방식은 이미지의 소멸 과정을 떠올리게 하지만, 인쇄와 제책의 공정을 통해 물성을 부여함으로써 이미지는 결국 사라지지 않고 어딘가에 맴돈다.
Screen Spectres is a book about the accelerated and repetitive production and dissolution of images. Do-hyun Park uses the images included in the Golden Record as a representation of delayed dissolution, capturing the process of prolonging this dissolution and turning it into a ghostly presence. The process of scrolling through images was filmed with a webcam, then split frame by frame and printed over 100 pages. The horizontal scrolling-like reading experience evokes the process of image dissolution, but through the physicality granted by printing and bookbinding, the images do not vanish but linger somewhere, hovering.
