The Forms of Protection is a book that introduces a collection of lids of various shapes and textures gathered by the author’s mother. For the author, these lids do more than simply keep dust away from food; they give tangible form to the mother’s desire to protect her family. Each lid is numbered and presented like an important collectible under the title The Forms of Protection. In turn, these “forms of protection” are carefully preserved beneath another lid: the book itself.
