그래픽 디자이너의 활동 반경은 얼마나 넓어질 수 있을까요?
황석원(@seogwonh) 디자이너는 인쇄물에서 시작해 전시 아이덴티티, 기업 브랜딩까지 다양한 분야에서 반짝이는 디자인 결과물을 선보여 왔습니다. 책, 전시, 패션, 뷰티, 패키지 디자인을 오가며 황석원 디자이너가 그동안 확장해 온 활동 영역을 들여다볼수록, 전문 분야 혹은 활동 영역을 중심으로 디자이너의 정체성을 가늠하는 것이 과연 어떠한 의미를 가지는지 다시 한번 생각해 보게 됩니다. 2024년 5월, CC 세미나에서는 끊임없이 확장하고 있는 황석원의 디자인 세계를 들여다보았습니다.
Seongwon Hwang (@seogwonh) has worked across a wide range of fields, from print and exhibition identities to corporate branding. Her projects span books, exhibitions, fashion, beauty, and packaging, making it difficult to define her by any single field or specialty. As her practice continues to evolve, it prompts broader questions about whether a designer can still be defined by a single specialty or field. In May 2024, at the CC Seminar, we explored the expanding scope of Seongwon Hwang’s work and the ideas that shape it.
소개
디자이너로 활동 중인 황석원(@seogwonh)은 출판물과 문화예술 전시 아이덴티티 디자인, 브랜딩 작업을 해오고 있으며, 타이포그래피적 접근과 인쇄 기반의 작업에 관심이 있습니다. 디자인 스튜디오 겸 출판사 워크룸(workroom)에서 일한 뒤, 패션 브랜드 디스이즈네버댓(thisisneverthat)에서 뷰티 브랜드 테누이(Tenui)를 런칭했고, 카키스(Khakis)의 그래픽 디자이너로 일했습니다.
Introduction
Seongwon Hwang (@seogwonh) is a designer working across publications, exhibition identity design, and branding identity. With a particular interest in typography and print-based design, she began her career at the design studio Workroom. She later launched the beauty brand Tenui at thisisneverthat and worked as a graphic designer for Khakis.
