디자인은 하나의 결과를 만들어내는 것보다, 주어진 조건을 탐구하고 이를 바탕으로 새로운 관계와 상황을 발견하는 활동이기도 합니다. 폼레스 트윈즈(@formlesstwins)는 관습적인 디자인 방법론을 거부하고, 스스로 디자인 과정을 재구성하는 방식으로 새로운 디자인 방법론의 가능성을 모색해 오고 있습니다. 2024년 12월, CC 세미나에서는 폼레스 트윈즈의 신상아(@sangahakasha)와 이재진(@www.jae_ee) 디자이너가 공동의 관심사를 각기 다른 방식으로 탐구하고, 이를 협업으로 확장해 나가는 이야기를 들어보았습니다.
Design can be a way of discovering new relationships and possibilities rather than simply producing outcomes. Through formless twins (@formlesstwins), Sangah Shin (@sangahakasha) and Jaejin Lee (@www.jae_ee) question conventional approaches to design, developing new methods by continually rethinking the process itself. In December 2024, at the CC Seminar, they spoke about exploring shared interests through different perspectives and extending those explorations through collaboration.
소개
폼레스 트윈즈(@formlesstwins)는 신상아(@sangahakasha)와 이재진(@www.jae_ee)으로 구성된 디자인 듀오로, 고정되지 않고 변화하는 정체성들 사이에서 발생하는 우연한 관계성에 주목합니다. 각각 암스테르담과 뉴욕에서 활동하며 공유했던 사소한 미학—귀여움, 키치, 버내큘러 등-에 대한 관심을 기반으로, 현재는 서울을 중심으로 유연하고 창의적인 연결을 만들어내는 디자인 방법론을 탐구하고 있습니다.
Introduction
formless twins (@formlesstwins) is a designer duo consisting of Sangah Shin (@sangahakasha) and Jaejin Lee (@www.jae_ee), whose practice focuses on the unexpected relationships that emerge between fluid and evolving identities. Having worked in Amsterdam and New York respectively, they share an interest in seemingly minor aesthetics—cuteness, kitsch, and the vernacular—which now informs their exploration of design methodologies that foster flexible and creative connections centered in Seoul.
