2021년 플랫폼 엘에서 열린 『Unparasite』에서 전시되었던 『0.1평 문서』를 모은 중철책자이다. 『0.1평 문서』는 한국의 부동산 면적 기준인 1평(3.3㎡)을 10분의 1로 축소하여 전시장 곳곳의 0.1평을 점유하고, 해당 문서를 책으로 엮어 이것을 구매해가는 구매자의 부동산 0.1평을 점유하겠다는 것에 기반한 작업이다. (추신: 그러나 1평의 가로세로는 각각 3.3m가 아닌 약 1.8m 이므로 해당 책의 사이즈인 330*330mm의 계산에는 오류가 있었음을 밝혀둔다.)
This is a saddle-stitched booklet that compiles the 0.33㎡ Document exhibited at Unparasite, an exhibition held at Platform-L in 2021. The 0.33㎡ Document is based on the concept of occupying 0.1 pyeong (1 pyeong = 3.3㎡, a standard unit of real estate measurement in Korea) by reducing 1 pyeong to one-tenth of its size and claiming 0.33㎡ of space throughout the exhibition hall. The document was then compiled into a book, with the intention of having the buyer “occupy” 0.1 pyeong of real estate through its purchase. (Note: However, the length and width of 1 pyeong are approximately 1.8 meters each, not 3.3 meters. Therefore, it should be noted that there was an error in the calculation of the book size as 330 x 330mm.)
내용은 형식에 앞서 존재하는가? 나아가 형식과 내용에 위계가 존재하는가? 형식과 내용 사이에 선후 혹은 우열은 존재할 수 없다. 형식과 내용은 서로를 존재하게 하는 불가분의 관계이기 때문이다. 선후 혹은 우열에 대한 질문은 ‘닭이 먼저냐, 달걀이 먼저냐?’라고 묻는 것과 같다. 무엇이 먼저이든 형식은 내용을 낳고, 내용은 형식을 낳는다. 『뭐가 먼저냐』는 —책이라는 매체의 제작 과정을 역행하여 구현하는 실험을 통해— 형식과 내용의 관습적 선후 관계를 뒤바꿈으로써, 둘 사이에 먼저와 나중은 물론 우와 열은 결코 존재할 수 없음을 드러낸다.
