홍익대학교 홍문관 7층에는 프린트실이 있다. 프린트실은 화면으로만 보던 작업물을 지면 위로 옮길 수 있는 곳이다. 이곳에는 복합기부터 포토 프린터, 형광 프린터, 리소 프린터, 플로터, UV 프린터, 스캐너와 재단기까지 없는 것이 없다. 홍익대학교 시각디자인과 수업을 듣는 사람이라면 누구나 이 프린트실을 이용할 수 있다. 이 책은 프린트실을 만드는 사람들의 인터뷰를 담고 있다. 프린트실을 이용하는 학생과 이곳을 관리하는 근로 학생, 사무 조교, 그리고 프린터 업체의 이야기를 담았다. 언젠가는 이 프린트실도, 이곳을 이용하고 관리하는 사람들도 바뀌겠지만, 지금의 이름을 기록하고 싶었다. 당신에게 프린트실은 어떤 곳인가요?
On the seventh floor of Hongmun Hall at Hongik University, there is a print room. It is a place where work seen only on screen can be brought onto paper. The room has everything—multifunction printers, photo printers, fluorescent printers, risograph printers, plotters, UV printers, scanners, and cutting machines. Anyone enrolled in a Visual Communication Design course at Hongik University is welcome to use it.
This book contains interviews with the people who make the print room what it is. It holds the stories of the students who use it, the student workers and administrative assistants who maintain it, and the representatives from the printing equipment companies. Someday, this print room will change—and so will the people who use and care for it — but we wanted to record the names that belong to it now.
